CELEBRITY CHEF BRIAN TURNER PUTS PROFESSIONALS THROUGH THEIR PACES IN THE ORANGE KITCHEN AT BECKETT’S FARM
TV chef Brian Turner TURNED up the heat in The Orange Kitchen at Beckett’s Farm in Wythall yesterday hosting a special version of "Ready, Steady Cook". Brian put two
teams of businessmen and women through their paces in a cook-off at the venue
on Thursday, June 6.
The 12 business people counted their red tomatoes or green peppers at the Orange Kitchen Cookery
School at Beckett’s Farm, Wythall. Holly Beckett, of Beckett’s
Farm, said the businessmen and women split into two teams. She
said: “It’s was great fun to have Brian here in our training kitchen,
which is a new element of our business and one of which we’re extremely
proud. Brian was assigned one team and chef Simon Smith, one of our
executive chefs, looked after the second team.
“Both teams created a
starter, main dish and dessert using ingredients sourced from our farm shop
which means meat and vegetables were used from local suppliers.
“Each team assigned themselves a head chef and sous chef and Brian and Simon guided them and
suggested ideas as they had two hours to work together and create the
dishes. Three judges then deliberated, cogitated and digested to crown
Brian's Green Pepper Team the best chefs on the day.”
Yorkshire man Brian made his first
visit to the region since being appointed as an ambassador of Yorkshire Bank.
“We run a number of different cookery team-building events in our development
kitchen at Beckett’s Farm, but we thought Brian would feel most at home with "Ready, Steady Cook",” added Holly.
The day was organised in
joint partnership between Beckett’s Farm and Yorkshire Bank, who are
celebrating 20 years of working together.
